“Everybody is great, because everyone can serve.” MLK Jr
Every week, some of my community friends and I get together on Saturdays and do stuff. Sometimes it’s just a fun get together like a study session, but other times, we like to do service projects.
Last summer, for my birthday, we got together and sold handmade bracelets and donated the money to an orphanage in Nepal. We also got together for our friends’ birthdays for different projects.
With service projects, you can bring all sorts of people together. Recently, I read about Sasha Olsen, a 10 year old girl in a news article. (She’s only 10 and already making a big difference in cleaning up the beaches, by Gabrielle Schultz and Miami Herald adapted by Newsela staff https://newsela.com/view/ck9nooon609060iqjb6i1lpeq/?levelId=ck7ecy79n1as414p75mz2humk) Apparently, she brought people from all over the world together to raise awareness for ocean pollution and to help keep the ocean clean. She said that it is good “to show people that they can come together through their hobbies and work together towards a common goal.”
Just like Martin Luther King, Jr said, “Everybody is great, because everybody can serve.”
